Nextdoor Violated the Consumer Review Fairness Act Has NEXTDOOR Been Seized By Local Business Employees? Hey Nextdoor, “… removing genuine negative reviews is not permissible. Any person participating and doing so through fraudulent means, that is illegal,” words from the FTC. Is Nextdoor protecting the companies that advertise with them? There is a particular group of people on NEXTDOOR who have spent time to seize power and manipulate the community guidelines to meet their own personal expectations. These volunteers aren’t upholding the community guidelines as they promised. That’s fraud and it’s taking place right here in our community. Why are the moderators of NEXTDOOR acting like the mafia? Are employees of local businesses taking over Nextdoor as leads and community reviewers? These moderators are filtering content that only promotes their agenda. They veer off the platform and discuss and collaborate to suppress negative reviews. That’s why you’ll never see negative reviews including mine which was a review of the Agoura Hills Animal Hospital which is currently under investigation by the California State VMB. Every time I’ve left this review on NEXTDOOR, it was removed within a few hours for public shaming. Every appeal I made was denied within a few hours for guess what? “Public Shaming” Do you see the trend here folks? These moderators are working together and all it takes is a decision from two leads to remove a post. Nextdoor states, ”….neighbors are allowed to describe negative experiences with business or service providers as long as they do so in a way that is consistent with Nextdoor’s Community Guidelines.” Which are: 1. Be respectful to your neighbors You’re speaking to your real neighbors. Strong communities are built on strong relationships. 2. Do not discriminate We do not tolerate racism, hateful language, or discrimination of any kind. 3. Discuss important topics in the right place We have policies and dedicated spaces for important non-local topics, such as national politics. 4. Use your true identity Nextdoor is built on trust — we want everyone to know they’re communicating with their real neighbor, and therefore require you to use your true identity. 5. Do not engage in harmful activity We prohibit any activity that could hurt someone, from physical harm to scams. When a negative review is left Nextdoor says, “ Please remember that disagreeing with a post is not a reason to report it. This slows down our ability to remove content that is truly abusive and to create a platform where everyone feels welcome.” All I tried to do was leave an honest review and I followed those guidelines and yet I’m still not allowed to discuss what happened to Jack Russell Terrier, Jojo with my neighbors. For heaven sakes, they all knew him? How can the perpetrator and Nextdoor get away with this? My neighbors have a right to know what happened to Jojo. His life was cut short due to the fraud and negligence that took place at the Agoura Hills Animal Hospital. Nextdoor and its volunteer’s have created an environment where the Leads and Moderators are totally isolated from the users of the platform. That environment can easily be abused. When you accuse someone of a crime, the defendant is granted a hearing with a prosecutor, a judge and a jury. NEXTDOOR disagrees and believes they are the court, no need for anything else. It’s a corrupt system which denies everyone a right to an appeal. I hope congress takes a look into this. Wait, did I say congress? I guess we’re in deep ……..
